Sophie Lee

Sophie Lee (b.1987) is a British artist living in Manchester. Her work has been exhibited in the UK and Europe, including her solo exhibition ‘Any Structured Pattern’ at Progr, Bern, Switzerland (2014), group shows with OutsiderXchanges; BALTIC, Gateshead (2016) and The Manchester Contemporary (2016). Solo exhibition ‘Make Place’ at ArtWork Atelier, Salford (2017) and group show ‘Did you see them?’ at SIM House Reykjavik (2015). Lee has undertaken artist residencies in Finland, Iceland and the UK.

Commissioned work includes ‘From not knowing to knowing’ (2016) a video work made for ‘Freehaus’ Culture Action Llandudno, Wales. She has artist books in Doverodde artist book collection and photographic work in both private collections and the Manchester School of Art. Lee has worked on a number of projects both collaboratively and independently, most recently OutsiderXchanges, a project in partnership with Venture Arts, Castlefield Gallery and BALTIC.

In 2017 Lee completed her Arts Council England Grants for the Arts funded project ‘Make Place’, gaining a deeper understanding in her interests surrounding architecture and the psychology of the domestic space. This research project culminated with a solo exhibition at ArtWork Atelier in Salford, UK.
